We have a small, old rental house with sagging / uneven floors, a small horizontal crack on the center floor beam from an earthquake, and shifted sill plate. Bought 8 of these screw jacks to support the droopy areas and lift others areas so we could insert reinforcing beams and attach plates to secure things. Some of these will be left in place permanently, others were moved around as needed. They are easy to use, the top plate pivots a little bit which helps account for slight uneven surfaces (like gravel beneath); there are holes to secure the top and bottom of the screw jack to the beams if desired. We had no problem with the bar used to turn the screw - I would say if yours bends, you are trying to lift more than these are designed for. Ours is a small house (1 story, 900 SF) and we could noticeably lift the house 1/4 (it changed door alignment). The floors feel much less bouncy now, and I feel better knowing there is additional support.
