My husband asked for this to aid in his hunting and outdoors life. He has a bad back so he wanted to help lift feed onto his ATV. Lift the generator onto truck bed, etc.My opinion is you should have two people using as it's a little wobbly with heavier items but that's necessary,Got this for good price too. It does what it should do for you.

Updated review:With modifications this works well for me to be able to get my Drive Scout scooter into the back of my SUV. I've had a spinal fusion and am limited to how much I can bend/lift and I didn't want to put a hitch on my new car.I took off the wire/hook and replaced it with the exact length of nylon winch rope and included hook (U Creative 50ft synthetic winch kit). I used 1x12 hook loop straps to hold it closed. Definitely needed hairpin hooks. I reassembled it with the loose wires attached to the back rather than the front of the top piece to ensure enough give to be able to attach to the hooks on the base. The scooter was still a bit close to the ground, so I got Homeon Wheels RV Leveling Blocks 2.0 and gorilla taped 2 blocks side by side with 2 of the ramps to drive the scooter front up on which gave just enough clearance to get the lift under. The mods lightened it considerably and made it much easier to manage for losing and unloading.Initial review: This came pretty banged up, but I was able to get things unbent enough to assemble.Do yourself a favor and buy hairpin-type pins before assembly, you will be glad you did. Mine did NOT have slots, but had hooks on the bottom piece. Note that those are to hold one end of the 2 wires, so make sure you assemble the right directions. The instructions are garbage. Also do yourself another favor and buy a couple of Velcro straps to keep it from randomly unfolding when moving it.There is WAY more cable than is needed. Perhaps the company would do well to save some $$$ on that and include good pins, straps, and decent instructions.I bought this to lift my scooter into the back of my SUV (no hitch). I'll update the review based on performance when I'm done

I didn't buy thus to lift a dead deer but rather a very heavy kayak after rigging on some hardware- other reviews are accurate on painfully poor instructions and overly long cable but otherwise it will save me some very heavy awkward lifting - would recommend if you are pretty handy with modifying its use to your need.

The instructions were not as good as they should have been, but I was able to figure it out. I had read other comments so I mounted rails on top and an 1100 lb electric hoist. Lifted and lowered my generator without any issues at all. So far, I am very pleased.

If you can get it together correctly it works great and I recommend it, but if you lack a mechanical aptitude you should give this a pass. The instructions are very poor... the parts list says you have a set of 13mm and 8mm hardware, but the instructions say you need 8mm and 5mm (they are incorrect) Big bolts in big holes, small ones in small holes. They say slots in the base face up to place the base, there are no slots, there are hooks that open down. FYI: the 13mm and 8mm fit ASE 1/2 and 3/8The winch cable is too long for just lifting the platform, and attached awkwardly. I unwound it all the way and rewound it tightly on the spool, then used a bit of duct tape to hold the excess tight on the spool. I am thinking of detaching the cable from the spool, shortening it, and then using a button ferrule to reattach the cable to the spool for cleaner and easier unwind and rewind.

Standard difficulty in assembly. 5mm wrench isn't the correct size for the stabilizing straps- I had to use an 8mm. No big deal. Read a review on here and watched the video and laughed my tail off- YOU HAVE TO PUT WEIGHT ON THE FRONT OF THE LIFT TO STABILIZE IT! It's not going to rock solid without weight on it- because otherwise it wouldn't fold down! Use your foot to keep it stable until something is on it- then hold your foot on the back cross bar if you need further stabilization. Loaded a 300 lb generator into my truck with this. Now- lowering it with weight is a different story. This is not a lowering winch. If you load weight on it and disengage the wrench lock- it will spin freely unless someone is holding it. Which somewhat negates the purpose of having a lift if you need two people. However- none of the videos show the lift lowering weight- I just assumed it would have a bi-directional winch. If I am incorrect here in my technique someone please let me know- but I have operated numerous genie lifts and they go both up and down. When I see a product named after an elevator- I would assume that's how that works. Anyways- 4 stars. I guess.

I just used this lift to put my 100lb generator into my truck. It worked pretty well. It lifts the generator easily but it was to close To the truck and needed to move it. This is almost impossible. Being able to put your load on it and roll it up to the truck would immensely improve this. Could use wheels to help. I think the complaints people are having about the rubbing is because they are trying to bring the cable from the wench over the wheel on the wench . This is normal Use but I this application the cable goes down the other side. I like it but because of the difficulty moving with weight on it and bad instructions I give it 4 stars
