Mission: VoicesforBiodiversity enhances biodiversity conservation through storytelling, collaboration, community and advocacy. We focus on sharing the stories of those who would not otherwise have a way of being heard. Then we help those same individuals create or improve local environmental projects that help protect biodiversity or we help them enact advocacy to protect nature where they live.
Results: We believe that when people share their stories about nature and other species we learn to live in healthy relationship with the natural world and protect biodiversity. Voices for Biodiversity (V4B) has shared feature articles, interviews, reviews, dispatches, articles by youth, photos, videos, and more from people all around the globe who care about other species. We have published hundreds of articles in the past decade. We also produce content for National Geographic News Watch. Voices for Biodiversity has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Anthropology in Media Award from the American Anthropological Association in 2014; top honors from New Mexico Press Women for Best Nonprofit Website in 2018,2016 and 2015; and first place for Best Website Edited or Managed by a Nonprofit, Government Agency or Educational Organization from the National Federation of Press Women in 2015 and honorable mention in 2016 and 2018.
