Mission: Willamette Humane Society has been in existence for 51 years providing compassionate services to more than 500,000 animals and their people. Our core focus is on the animals in our immediate care with sheltering, adoption, medical and behavioral rehabilitation, and lost pet services. Our secondary focus offers programs and services for our community designed to prevent animals from needing our services. In this area we include humane education for children in school based programs and summer camps; behavior and training classes for people and their dogs including volunteers and shelter dogs; a low cost spay and neuter clinic which includes a Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) program for community cats; and a behavior helpline to keep pets in their homes. The live release save rate for dogs is over 90 percent and the cat save rate is 80 percent. Part of this success is the extraordinary medical and behavior services animals receive to ensure they are attractive candidates to adoptive families. (Less)
