If you buy a leather ball, you will NEED this. The ball will be too slick otherwise. If you don't feel like purchasing this, I would highly recommend purchasing either a pre-treated ball, or a composite ball (assuming you don't need to play with the ball in the rain).

The tack bar and brush do exactly as advertised, enhances the grip of a leather football by making it stickier. The one downside is that the tack bar has a pretty powerful smell, like paint or something, also if you apply too much the ball feels a little grimy.

I HIGHLY recommend getting the Wilson prep conditioner lotion before using the tac bar on the ball. Having said that, after application of the lotion conditioner and the bar and brush, my new 34;Duke34; has that brown shade and shine. I definitely recommend both products.
