This thing is solid. The vertical beams are one piece, and the shelves sit in notches so they don't move once they are screwed in. I assembled it fairly quickly as one person, but received help in placing it so I didn't mark up the walls. I have about 30 hardcover and reference books sitting on the shelves as well as about 30 paperbacks and the thing is going strong. One word of warning though, be careful not to over-tighten the screws on the shelves. I separated the second shelf from the bottom a little bit at the front corner by doing this and had to screw my own screw in to hold it together.

Let me start by saying I thoroughly love the look of this product. It looks great leaning against my wall and I am happy I purchased this, I think?! I am a little conflicted with my loving the look to the overall quality of the product. The unit was super easy to put together. That is even though the directions were somewhat too simple. It took a little guess work, and I guess common sense to ensure that mutliple identical looking pieces were in the right spot. Once you figure that out its a joy to put together. After placing it on the wall, I noticed the shelves were not level, so I attempted to gently slide this unit up to achieve the desired level shelves. Well the moment I moved this thing I saw a black mark on my wall. Now, to clarify I did not slide this thing hard by no shape form or fashion. It wasn't leaning for more than two minutes when I decided to move, but low and behold it left a black mark on my wall. After moving to the right angle noticed that there is no way to make the shelves 100% level, which isn't too bad because they are probably about 80 to 85 degrees, so nothing is going to slide or move. I placed all my figurines and pictures on this unit and I love the look. I am just slightly upset about the black mark and the fact the shelves aren't completely level.

I ordered two shelves. One arrived, and the other had been returned by UPS without delivery - I am assuming the packaging was too damaged. The boxes were not well sealed along the side edge, however, they were packaged well so they were not damaged. I love the look of the shelves. The sides are all one piece - not two, which I like. The directions were confusing to me to understand what was top and bottom. I was able to easily put them together by myself, however, when I put together the first one, I had the shelves upside down. It was easy enough to change, but it did take me a while. I just finished an MBA program, and the bottom shelves easily hold those heavy text books. I love these bookshelves for the space I had. They were reasonably priced, fairly easy to put together (once you were able to tell the difference in top and bottom) and were easily put together by one person. I like the height. It makes it nice to be able to put many books with some decorative touch.

I was very pleased with this purchase. It was delivered quickly, assembled easily and fit perfectly into the space I had. I was worried that it would take up a lot of floor space, but the design is great if you have limited floor space. I purchased the desk for this unit as well and....WOW! The price is great as well. I almost purchased a similar unit from Crate and Barrel for twice the cost; I'm glad I didn't.

The bookcase was eligible for free super saver shipping when I ordered it. I received it much before the estimated date. Although the instruction manual was not very good it didn't take very long to assemble. The wood is strong and solid. It is an awesome piece of art. I kept it in my living room which gives my living room a very cozy look. The only con it has is that the top bar scratches your wall, so while adjusting it sideways cover the top bar with paper or something. Overall very happy that I ordered it.

I purchased 2 of these shelves for my office space. Sturdy and well made. Comparable to Crate & Barrel at a much better price!

Just purchased this bookshelf and I absolutely love it! It looks way more expensive than the great price. Pretty easy to put together, it only took me about 30 minutes or so by myself. It has a great rich brown color. Would recommend it to anyone! Beautiful addition to my living room.

These are nice modern looking good shelves. I put them together in no time. There were a few chips/dents in the paint/wood but nothing crazy. In comparison to the $300 crate and barrel shelves, these are pretty nice for the $ spent.

My girlfriend and I had books lying everywhere. No more. This unit holds a lot of books, is cheap, easily built, and offers value that cannot be beat. I searched for a shelving unit for while and dismissed all the leaning, weird looking bookcases. After realizing that I wont be able to afford the bookcase of my dreams I gave in, read the reviews, looked at the picture, the price and was instantly sold.Carefully read the manual before putting it together. I managed to mis-assemble it twice. Surprisingly this shelving unit still worked even then :-)

This shelf was fairly easy put together. It took a little under an hour. It can hold a lot of books, decor, etc. I'm very impressed with the overall look and pleased with my purchase. We might be buying another one soon.

After fighting off some concerns about stability, I decided to buy these shelves for my bedroom. The room boasts hardwood floors, and I was worried that the shelves might slip and collapse. The package arrived just two days after I placed my order (WOW!) and the shelves were very nice quality. As I started assembling them (not all that difficult, I must say), the stability concerns drifted away. I stuck a few felt pads on the back of each shelf to protect the walls and (just to be safe) some rubber grip feet on the bottom. The shelves have an appealing design and are perfect for a room with tall ceilings and little floor space.

This product arrived and I had it up and running within the hour. The wood is high quality with a lovely finish. The instructions for assembly are easy to follow and there are few places to screw up. The shelf looks great, just as nice as the similar one West Elm sells for 4 times the price, and I was thrilled to not have to shell out several hundred dollars for a nice shelf. Highly recommended.

I actually had low expectations because I thought the price was low for it to be of good quality. I'm pleasantly surprised. After reading the instructions carefully, it took me about 35 minutes to put together. I'm 8 months pregnant so that does slow me down some. It was packaged well, no scratches or dents. All parts were included. I'm using it in my office to hold books & photo frames. It did not damage the wall & it is holding my books w/o any problems (mostly paperback). Overall, I feel like I got excellent bang for my buck w/this purchase.

The Winsome wood shelves are solid wood, well crafted, and very beautiful! I have no regrets with this purchase. With the Winsome product, the side rails are one-piece, so expect a tall box. I've read the negative review on this product, with exposed nails. I have to believe it was a leaning shelf from a different manufacturer as the quality of these shelves is a deal at twice the price! The product can be easily assembled by one person. i am disabled (back) and had no trouble assembling this unit by myself. however, if you also have a bad back, get someone to help you lift it after assembly as this is not a light, cheap item.

I bought this shelf for my daughter's ever growing stack of books. It was easy to put together - albeit a tad awkward because of the height of the unit, be prepared to kneel for a while. What I love about it is that it's so neat against the wall. It takes up far less space the the unit it replaced, which held half the amount of books! Definitely a good buy.

This only took about a half hour to assemble with one person. Although the shelves are secure, they seem to kind of tilt a little. The piece is not as sturdy as I thought it would be but I will just put lighter items on the shelves. It looks nice!

This is a great bookshelf. It was fairly easy to put together (no more difficult than Ikea furniture). It looks a lot more expensive than it is. My one complaint are the little black pieces of wood that cover the screws. They keep falling off, but I guess I can fix that with some super glue.
