Great, it takes a bit of time to assemble. But, it can be used as stool in my kitchen and step anywhere else.

My cat is getting older and is having troubles jumping up to her counter in our kitchen. My husband and I bought this stool especially for her since it had two steps and required no jumping on her part. It's been great and looks nice in our kitchen. My husband wasn't thrilled that the "some assembly" was really every part had to be assembled as nothing came put together. But it didn't take him long and wasn't difficult. And the best part is that our cat loves it!

I've bought six of these lovely step stools. My original intention was to have only two -- one for the kitchen and one for another room. But, every time family members saw them, they raved about the stools so much that I ended up giving them away. And then I had to order more for myself. :)I had absolutely no problems assembling any of the six step stools (and my right side is weak from a stroke). One step stool is in my kitchen, to help me reach the top shelves -- and it looks so attractive that it really dresses up the entire kitchen. The other one is in the dining room, next to my garden window, to help me reach the plants on the higher shelf. It, too, looks like a hand-made piece and looks right at home in there.I never cease to admire how lovely these stools are and how they fit into the smallest spaces. I just wish I didnt have to hide them whenever more family members come over. :)

This stool is sturdy and the finish is fine. We use it to reach high bookshelves in our den and it looks very nice ... we leave it out all the time.

This is a a very handy little stool. The fold out step makes it easier to step up on. Seems very stable and looks nice too. Was fairly complicated to put together.

Pros:* Beautiful dark wood and elegant construction. You can leave it out all the time.* Easy to assemble.* Wide steps.* I didn't realize when I got it, but the ability to fold up the bottom step means this thing is great to just leave out with a small footprint.Cons:* None. I love this thing.I bought this because I have cats and large dogs and I feed the cats on a table above the reach of the dogs. However, one of my cats is 17 years old and her days of leaping up three feet are long gone. I had a basket that cut the distance down to half that, but she still sometimes fell. I searched all over for "cat stairs", but apparently no one has filled that little niche market yet. I had also tried an old wooden stepstool, but it had very narrow steps and after I watched her slip off that too I knew I had to do something. It really broke my heart to watch her, so I'm very thankful to have found this perfect stepstool. Each level is only a foot high now and the steps are wide enough that she feels safe and solid on each one. It's also not a bad thing that's it's so pretty it's a permanent fixture and readily available for me to move over a few feet and use to get in a high kitchen cabinet.
