My wife and I have been using these for so long that we cannot live without them. We have one in the bedroom, one in the office for studying, and we keep one at our frequently traveled locations (family's house, vacation house, etc). They make it so you can have tolerable sleep even around a very loud family. If you combine them with ear plugs, I'm pretty sure you can sleep through a train wreck. The only drawback is they are a little smaller than the size of a duck tape roll (circumference) and slightly heavy due to their use of an actual moving fan to generate the noise. However, they produce a much higher quality sound than the electronic noise machines. So, the weight/size is worth the tradeoff of better sound and higher quality sleep in my opinion. They do make a smaller, electronic version they market toward infant/toddlers that produces very similar quality noise and it is much smaller. I wouldn't use it for every day use at home, but it does come in handy for travel.
