Causes: Human Services

Mission: To protect and empower our world's young.

Target demographics: Primarily youth and women-led enterprises.

Direct beneficiaries per year: 221,830 lives impacted and 92 organizations supported in 2019.

Geographic areas served: United States, Ecuador, Nepal, Uganda, Europe, Ethiopia, Cambodia, Australia, Brazil, Philippines, Mexico, and South Africa

Programs: An estimated 385 million children worldwide live in extreme poverty. They have fled armed conflict, are battling gender inequality, missing school to provide for their families, and surviving forms of violence and exploitation. Children born into unfavorable conditions face disproportionate barriers to reaching their full potential. One of the strongest determinants of who ends up poor is who is born poor. Often, the only thing separating success from a failure is an opportunity.

At the Young Living Foundation, we exist to provide that opportunity so a child’s prospects depend less on if they are born into poverty or not. We envision a world where the rising generation is free to thrive and create positive change in their communities.

We accomplish our mission and vision by teaming up with global changemakers and charitable organizations whose intervention work align with one of our three focus pillars as listed below.
  1. Championing Education: Opening doors of opportunity through traditional and vocational education, skills building, and leadership development. Under this pillar, we will focus on five key approaches: providing funding to schools, increasing access to education, supporting leadership development, enhancing skills training, and funding higher education opportunities.
  2. Developing Enterprise: Empowering women worldwide to break the generational cycle of poverty for their children by investing in small business and fair-trade enterprises. Under this enterprise pillar, we provide small grants to women-led businesses located in areas of economic hardship so women can earn an income to provide for their children.
  3. Ending Exploitation: Protecting the vulnerable from losing their freedoms to abuse and human trafficking. For the past four years, we have helped accelerate Hope for Justice's efforts to put an end to exploitation in our generation, and each year, it has increased its support in this fight.
