Zilla approves! I bought this in conjunction with a mercury vapor bulb, as the bulbs are notorious for blowing out if treated carelessly.It's been in regular use for several weeks now and I've had no issues. The bulb is held securely, and I'm not worrying about it overheating as with a regular dome lamp.

I use these fixtures along with 13 watt, 5.0 UVB bulbs to light my dart frog terrariums. The fixtures are ideal for frogs because they allow you to provide UVB light essential for processing vitamins without heating the terrarium (as most UV lamps sold for desert reptiles do). They are attractive and easy to use. I've had one for several years now, and it's still going strong.

Zoo Med advised this is the safest product. I had a small fire with a product made by PetSmart. This product keeps bulbs at a safe temperature. Highly recommended.
