I have an 8ft bush hog I use for shredding thick brush and small trees. The cotter key that held the nut in must have snapped off allowing the washer to wiggle loose and over time buggered up the threads on the gear shaft rendering putting a new washer on, not possible. This die saved me tons of time and effort unbolting and hauling in the gear box to the supplier for a fix. Got the die on and slowly and carefully threaded it down onto the shaft creating new threads. Now my blades and stump jumper are back installed like new!

I used this to clean up some existing threads that were bent and rusted. With a lot of tap oil this worked like a charm. I don't know if it is hard enough to make new threads, but it was sold to clean threads and it worked. I used a C-lamp as a wrench to hold it in place and turn it. I didn't have a crescent or box and open end wrench large enough for it.

Very good for cleaning messed up axle threads. Needs a big 1 5/8 socket to fit over it though

works perfectly. I simply could not find a thread die in 11 x 1.25 for my motorcycle shocks. cut the threads very nicely.

This die works and fits as expected, so I'm scratching my head why the Drill America tap that I bought with this doesn't seem to fit well on my tests. Oh well, that's for a review of that specific item. In the meantime, this item fits and works well.

I recommend this die! It seems to be good quality. Cleaned up and fixed some fairly bruised threads on a drive shaft flange connection (M18 x 1.5). I was concerned as the bad threads were near the end where I needed to start the die. And these are hard steel threads on a drive shaft. The die is chamfered so it's easy to start in/on bad threads.
