out fitting my kayak for fishing now with two rod holders. so far this one works great in less fear of the holder popping out with the other type base. that is just a swivel lock in place. this one has the button to grip the rod holder and won't come out until you press the button and pull.

love these over the non locking, dont even know why the would make them non locking'? makes me want to toss my older non locking ones.

Like just about all Scotty products, this is a good one. After using the locking version, I would never go back to the old ones without that feature.

This thing is the cat's meow. Holds my Lowrance depth finder with Scotty mount like a champ. Fastened it to aluminum using revnuts and stainless bolts.
