Bought this for my 20v palm sander since Dewalt never put and forethought into the fact that someone might like to connect dust collection to it. Reading is fundamental and as a guy, first thing to go was the manual. After several failed attempts to install it, I found out there is a twist lock. Unlocked and viola, snapped right in. Love it.

For years I've struggled with adapters connected to adapters to make this particular adapter work. Now I found a way to toss all of them, but this adapter.Buy the Rigid “Premium Car Cleaning Kit”. It must be this kit. It's the hose plus vacuum accessories. About $52 at Home Depot. If you buy the shop VAC hose this will not work. The car cleaning kit is a 1 1/4” hose. Once you get it, unscrew the small adapter on the hose. Remember it turns opposite of normal. Now screw on your DeWALT adapter. The other side of the hose will fit into your DeWALT shop VAC or any other shop VAC as it's a 2 1/2” connector. It's perfect. Not close. It's a perfect fit. Now this will work like the expensive $400 DeWALT dust extractor. It's amazing, now every vacuum attached DeWALT tool works. Hose is great, better than the DeWALT hose and zero adapters. Finally an answer to this nonsense. Just used 3 tools tonight. No adapters!

This is the perfect thing with my wife having COPD. It did a excellent job containing bout 95 of the dust. It's very tight going into the vacuum hose. The locking mechanism for the saner end is pretty ingenious. Just wish the would reengineer the end that goes into the vacuum hose. But she works and does the job. For the job it does I do recommend this.

Connects directly to the dewalt shroud and the end fitting of the 1 and 7/8 hose. Have to use some elbow grease to connect the hose fitting to the connector, but it seals up nicely.

Dewalt, make this like half the price that it is. The sander was $100, and this was $20. Doesn't feel good.

With this adapter on my DeWalt palm sander, I can jam my Festool dust extractor hose into the opening of the adapter. It holds tight, and now using my DeWalt palm sander is virtually dust free.

The adapter works great and fit perfectly but... I soon realized my vacuum hose wasn't long enough. That's another story.

The only hose I could find to fit this Universal connector was one from DeWalt where one end fits into this device and the other into the DeWalt dust extractor.Both ends of the tube seem to be a proprietary size, unique to DeWalt.Still working on a solution

This is the attachment you want to buy to connect your miter saw or angle grinder shroud to a vacuum. However you need to buy one more fitting! if you want to connect it to a shop vac style 2 1/2 inch hose. It works great so you cannot deduct any points from the quality of the tool. It serves its intended purpose. It is just disappointing that they don't make a single attachment for this purpose since there are so many people that use this type vacuum.

Did not want to use metal hose clamps or have to cut the hose end from the vacuum cleaner. Typical 1-1/4 internal diameter pool cleaner hose screws in to Dewalt connector snugly. Standard 1-7/8 to 1-1/4 vacuum hose adapter stays in the other end of the pool hose with just a zip tie. Can now use this extension by attaching vacuum hose when needed.

I want to start off by saying I'm not a pro, just a home gamer. This saw (and subsequently dust collection system) will only see the lightest of duties but I'm happy with it. The lock is a nice touch I wasn't expecting.I have a dust cyclone setup so I'm using the 2-1/4? hose from my cyclone to the collection port. I strapped everything together with a 2-1/2 hose clamp and it works great. 5 straight days swinging around doing miters and bevels and it still holding.

Has worked on every Dewalt product i have. Was loose on the grinder dust cover, but once the vaccum was on it, worked just fine.
