I have been using Mountain House Products for decades. As an avid long distance, and wilderness hiker (not that weekend warrior stuff) for years. MH has always been a staple based on quality, and weight. While some may scoff at the price (with some justification) - you get what you pay for. What I admire most about MH is the verity of products, along with the versatility. Unlike other products that promote shelf life - they fail to educate you on what's required to prep them - ie: cooking time. MH can be consumed by just adding water. Might not bring out the full balance of the meal. But in a survival situation cooking things on a fire might be a stretch at best. Which is why I accept the cost of these products. Anyone could carry ten days worth of food on their back without any problems. So long as you have water - your in business. I hope this helps you make a better informed decision on your short term survival needs.

I love Mountain House survival food. It's the most convenient and has tasty selections. Add some fresh ingredients and they aren't just survival food anymore!

I have tried the Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and it was really good. BUT AFTER JUST MY PURCHASE, TODAY I CHECKED THE PRICE HAS INCREASED! Well, know what.will try the other brands with also fantastic reviews. Seems like Mountain House keeps increasing their prices..NOT GOOD AT ALL!

I bought these meals to have in case of an emergency. It's good to always be prepared. I received them today and made the beef stew. I wanted to make one to see how good they are. It was easy to make and I was surprised at how good they are. The beef stew was almost better than what I make. I will be buying more. Thank you for a delicious product.

When the crud did mountain house get soo goood! Like crud I was impressed by everything I ate. Also side note, it says meal for two.. yeah no, one person per bag.

You've ruined multiple dishes with onions and I don't understand why. Stroganof should not have onion crunch. Breakfast skillet is also ruined by it. There's a lot of people who don't like onions. I don't mind the flavor, but the texture is horrible in these dishes. You would lose nothing by removing them and just using onion powder.

I've said before Mountain House by far has the best tasting meals out there. If you have a large camping family the bucket is the way to go! I also recommend the bucket to anyone else that thinks a bug out bag is a good idea.

We spent 4 days Scamping on Porta Aransas Beach and didn't have to do any cooking except to heat water. We love these meals. They taste like homemade and are not oversalted like one of the other brands. Do yourself a favor and buy these for camping, day trips, hiking or prepping. The price is right and if you buy this on sale, each serving will be even less. Just do it!!! Mountain House meals was recommended by a friend. We are so blessed.

I tried two packages of the food so far just to test out the quality (beef stroganoff, and chicken with rice). I've had some stored for 2 years now. I was very impressed with the flavor and quality of the food. It tastes very fresh and close to a home-cooked quality and probably better than what most restaurants would serve you. The portion sizes are very generous. Enough for two people if needed. With a shelf life of 30 years, you can't go wrong having a few of these buckets on hand for an emergency situation.The packaging is high quality and seems very durable. Prep is very easy. Boiling water in the bag, mix it well, seal it up, leave for 10 minutes, and it's done. I have no complaints with this product. WILL UPDATE in 2051 if I still have one left, to confirm how well the flavor held up!

Where to start...The chicken fried rice is amazing, the granola w/ milk is great as well for the morning, the beef stronganov w/ noodles is great for lunch and dinner and the beef stew is also amazing for brunch but the flavor can be a bit over powering. The spaghetti with meat sauce tasted a bit bland so had to add a bit of parmesan cheese and tobasco for flavoring. The bucket itself is very useful in storing these pouches and other future pouches bought. Will recommend again but not so much the spaghetti.

I bought these to take on a weekend kayaking trip. I wanted to limit the amount of stuff I brought to take up less space and these were perfect. They tasted great and were super easy to reconstitute. For some of them, I did have to add more water and let it sit longer than was recommended because it was still a little crunchy but that's not a big deal at all. I will be buying again next year when we go overnight kayaking again.
