Both ends of these crimping type connectors are open, but only the end the wire goes through has sealant. So water can get in to the wires from the other end. Kinda makes the idea of having any sealant silly. These are like a conductive inside out metal cheese graters that you place your wires in then crush the sides together trapping the wires and making an electrical connection. good for small wires, unexposed to the elements.
