This adapter fits my DeWalt random orbit sander, but just barely. I wish they would have just copied the connection on the dust sock that came with the sander.

A bit fiddly (harder than expected) to attach to the tools, but once attached it holds well. Worked well on both DeWalt planer and sander.

I can make this part work, but only with one other piece to interface with the fat hose on my shopvac. The collar to lock it onto the DeWalt tool is stiff, IMHO, stiffer than necessary. Prepare to be underwhelmed.

As others have said, this is a good product that has a solid fit to DeWalt tools such as the random orbit sander, however DeWalt makes it FAR too hard to find connectors that fit. After searching online, I finally found that the vac hose that comes with RIDGID 1-1/4 in. Premium Car Cleaning Accessory Kit for RIDGID Wet/Dry Shop Vacuums screws in perfectly to the DWV9000. Without this Ridgid part, I would have returned the DWV9000 and the sander.

Don't know why this is not included with the dust collection Shroud it is needed to hook up your vacuum hose

As the title says, it is pricey but it does work and works decently. I mean, I spent $27 (plus tax) on it and a corded Dewalt orbital sander only cost around twice as much ($59). I gave it four stars since it does work as advertised and that's the main focus of the product review (as everyone sees the price). For people who found their 1.25 inch vacuum does not fit, this thing is meant to be screwed to the threaded tube directly, which might mean you have to cut your tube. I use a 3rd party tube (cen-tec) which has a nozzle that can be unscrewed. I also designed a 3d printed nozzle that can lock into this adapter using the same mechanism

I'm not convinced that this isn't a knockoff Dewalt product. The locking lug for the dust extractor is difficult to turn, much unlike my factory dust bag. Also, the plastic used doesn't look or feel similar to other parts I bought from Dewalt. The outfeed from the fitting seems way longer than necessary. Seems to work, but I feel like I overpaid for a knockoff product, but it seems to work so it's not worth the hassle to return.

Finally! I found this product and it was EXACTLY what I needed. I was trying to hook my shop vac up to my Dewalt orbital sander. If you're trying to do that, this is the product you need!!!! It uses the smaller hose (like the one in the rigid car cleaning kit and honestly I would suggest buying that just for the hose. Works perfectly with this). Made it super easy to have dust collection on my orbital sander. If you want to use your normal shop vac hose, you will also need the large hose adapter. I also have one of these and the large hose adapter on my miter saw. Perfect for that as well!

Take a 2 1/2 standard vacuum hose, mine is off a craftsman vacuum, take the standard connector out of one end of the hose. It took a small flat blade screwdriver and a little prying and twisting but it came right out. See the first photo. Twist the “universal adapter” tight into the hose end as in photo two. It's not super flexible in those first few inches of hose but even on a sander it worked fine. I did this to an extra hose I had so I don't intend to put the standard 2 1/4 connector back on the hose but I could. You could add some duct tape at the seam if you really wanted to lock it down. Hope this helps.

Does not fit like the dust catcher attachment for my Dewalt sander... Seems like a tighter fit but doesn't stay in place well

I was disappointed that I had to buy it all. My older DeWalt random orbital finally gave it up and that too was a disappointment; that sander might have been the greatest power tool I have ever owned and used in my 40 year as a contractor. That one used a slip on hose fitting that that came with it and I was able to use adapters I already had to connect to the vacuum. I never had an issue with it disconnecting and coming loose. This adapter is very positive and due to its twist lock fitting will never come loose, however I had to take a spare vacuum hose and permanently dedicate to the use with this adapter/sander. So that is one extra hose/piece/tool that serves only one task and one tool that I have to include with my already large tool stash. I came dangerously close to duct taping the hose to the sander. It works great, I took a star off just because.
