I still can't believe you can get cocoa's color to be this dark and neutral just by intensifying the alkali treatment. It even looks grey rather than brown when mixed with flour. Dough made with it comes out jet black.The flavor does seem to be slightly diminished (or delayed in perception?) by the alkali treatment. It's not as intensely rich as dark bar chocolate, but it's hardly bland. The color is the real selling point, and it really lives up to that.

This is gross. The flavor is not really chocolately and it had a gritty feeling to it. I used it in baked goods and the cocoa flavor was just not good. It was very expensive too and I just wound up throwing it away.

Needed black frosting but it stains teeth and is very messy this made a dark black color with a dark chocolate taste that didn’t stain very happy

Used this to make a black velvet cake. Also used some to make the buttercream black. The cake tasted like a big Oreo cookie, delicious!

I bought this for a special chocolate cake I wanted to try. The recipe I used was from King Arthur flour and had some reviews that stated that the chocolate flavor wasn’t deep and that kids would like it. By using this cocoa powder, the cake was rich and I received comments that said “this cake is the most chocolatey cake I’ve ever had!”. This cocoa powder will be the only one for my cake, brownies and other chocolate deserts!

My daughter had her 2nd birthday party and I used this to make a box cookie set more appealing to characters of her favorite movies. The flavor was great, the color was black, and I can’t wait to make more items with this!

This seriously chocolatey powder stuff is fabulous. Not everyone is as much a fan of chocolatey chocolate as I am, so I substitute half of the regular cocoa powder required in a recipe with this magnificent powder. Any fan of chocolate absolutely loves it, says theirs never tastes as good. When sharing my chocolate baked goods with my chocoholic friends, I have made serious chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting and chocolate filling, and they are to die for. Make sure there is a massive amount of milk close by. Ice cold chardonnay is a good sub for milk too. ;)

I've been using Hersheys Dark Cacao for years and haven't been able to find it recently. Tried this one and it's delicious. A little more expensive, but I think I'll keep purchasing regardless. Very happy!

I'm using the black cocoa for cake/ cupcakes and to make zebra cakes. The dark color eliminates the need for a lot of black food coloring.

The cocoa is black as it says and produces the best chocolate cake brownies I've ever made. Much higher quality than Pennsylvania's powder.

This dark cocoa powder is really really dark. I made ice cream with this and i think it was too much. That being said, i may just need to add less powder than normal.

This is the perfect cocoa for making homemade Oreos! It has the signature dark color and unique taste.Great substitute for black food coloring for baked goods. Just replace about 25 of the regular cocoa powder with the black cocoa to maximize flavor while achiving desired color. Worked great in my chocolate cake recipe and chocolate buttercream recipe without any adjustments.
