Would not keep fuel in the lantern. My replacement was defective as well. If this is how you guys do business I'm going to walmart.

I needed a lantern to use in an outbuilding. This has the great beauty that it uses unleaded auto gas. So no need to have a special fuel supply. Lawnmower gas works. I love it.Starts easily. Not as loud as what I remember of old lanterns. The mantles aren't as fragile as I remember either.I comes with a special funnel to fuel it. I think it is intended to fill it to the right level. It may be me but I don't seem to have it working right as yet. Small issue.Overall I'm very pleased with it.

Very well built. Reasonably easy to assemble and use. Some "learning curve" to use.

This Coleman lantern is well constructed of heavy guage steel and holds pressure well while in use. The light output is strong; I have no reason to doubt 800 lumens of brightness using Coleman 21 mantles (yttrium type). I have several Peerless mantles with thorium doping and I plan to try those. Thorium can improve brightness by 20 or more but is an alpha and beta particle emitter. From a practical standpoint, all this means is that one must avoid ingesting or inhaling mantle ash and should wash hands thoroughly after handling any thorium mantles. The radiation is weak and can't penetrate the glass globe, cardboard or skin. It all comes down to comfort level. Frankly, I will gladly accept the tradeoff of greater brightness for a negligible amount of non-gamma radiation. Coleman no longer makes thorium mantles, though.

Received this as a gift, terrific lantern. Used over the weekend and it fired right up and gave off great light. Very excited to use this for decades to come.

I've had this lantern for 30 years and abused it plenty. From camping in the rain to bouncing around in the back of the Jeep to smelt fishing, it's been on plenty of adventures. The plastic case is important to keep it safe when transporting. The only maintenance that I've performed is regular mantle replacement (I keep 6 extra mantles in the case) and I finally replaced the pump piston in 2019.It will dial down to a 25 watt bulb, or dial up to 300 watts...this thing will illuminate an entire campsite. You will never be sorry that you own this lantern.

Just what you would expect from Coleman: quality product and ease of use. A little hefty on the price tag, but so are must other things in this day and age.

Lantern was standard Coleman. Easy to use, straight forward. I fired up this lantern and let it burn for a while to make sure all was good. It worked just like their other lanterns it's just larger in size. I lit one of my standard Coleman dual fuel lanterns and compared light output between the two. This lantern is definitely brighter than the standard dual fuels. I recommend it. However, like everything these days, I think the price is a bit high, but then I am saying the same thing about everything I buy these days. Also, it is too big to fit in the plastic carry containers used for the standard size dual fuel lantern.
