I bought my home a few years ago, and I was the only one in my neighborhood, who didn't have a lamp post. This past summer I ordered this because I didn't want to have to pay an electrician. I knew the previous owners had one before, but I have no idea the condition of the wires underground. I just wanted something I could do myself.I purchased the pole and borrowed my neighbors post digger and put the pole in the ground with cement. I was nervous because I don't get a lot of sunlight right here due to the tree, but basically wanted it for the looks of the post itself, so I was willing to take the chance.I was pleasantly surprised to see the light go on at night, and I have even woken up at 3 am and it's still lit. I opted for the warm white/yellow setting, because personally I'm not a fan of the white/blueish led. I do believe that setting would provide more light though.I just decorated my lamp post for Christmas with fresh pine roping, white lights and a bow. I am absolutely in love with this!If you're looking for bright light, I would suggest something else, but if you're ok with a dimmer light, this is the way to go!
