Have used for poplar maple and a little oak, blade got knocked but still works. Overall, it's a good value, just haven't figured out snipe with factory in feed and out feed tables. But it works well and have zero regrets with purchase

Delivered before scheduled time. Heavy Duty precision machine. Works better than I expected. Smooooth finish ! Very little sanding required on finished wood.

Pros1. Very easy set up2. It's heavy so it's very sturdy3. Cuts nicely as you can see from the before and after pictures.4. Noise level is loud but the vacuum is on too so everything is loud. Just need to wear ear and eye protection.Cons1. Vacuum adapter doesn't fit the standard shopvac. I have a rigid shop vac and it doesn't fit so I had to tape it up as can see from my pictures.2. Vacuum location is right on top of where the wood comes out so the wood can potentially touch the vacuum hose if not careful. DeWalt should fix that.Even with my concerns, I would recommend it.

I am a novice woodworker, but so far it is easy to use. It seems to be very consistent.

A bit loud but that is probably all shop equipment, just a bit louder when you have to run the vacuum also. I am new to using a planer so there was a bit of a learning curve but it's a good brand and they have good instructions.

Initial review is planer received in good condition...Good packaging. Initial use indicates need to adjust infeed and outfeed tables. More as experience evolves.

Bought this to make a 7/8” backer board to hang a sliding barn door on our bathroom. The planer handled a 2x8 yellow pine board very well. Took my time and did multiple passes to get it to the final dimension. Used the finish setting to do the final pass. After light sand with random orbital sander the surface was perfect. Have also used it to flatten a rough cut piece of soft maple to fabricate a filler for my kitchen cabinet installation project. Took a 5/4” rough sawn board down to 3/4. Worked great.

Everything except the Feed Tables have been great. I'm a big fan of DeWalt but I was disappointed that The Feed Tables I received were both bent downward in the middle making it useless to pass smaller width material through the middle. I need a to have them replaced asap as it is really annoying and making my end product inaccurate

Leaves a perfectly smooth product when in the higher-speed mode and takes off serious amounts of wood when in the slower-cut mode. This is all you could ask for in a planer. It doesn't bog down, it doesn't wiggle or shake and it plows through the project. You need ear protection (with any planer) and dust collection but wow, what a great planer

Planner works great and all. Only complints i have are that 1) a rigid shopvac does not connect to the dust port, so i had to duct tape mine until i got a 3rd party adraptor. 2) the metal wings i got are weak, the one i have in the front wraped to make it bow so now i get snipe in the front of my boards since i cant level the wraped wing. 3) i never got the dust shute that it shows in the listing.

Works mostly well. The first few passes are difficult, especially with rough cut. I clean and wax every use. But even at 0-1/32 removal, constantly jambs leaving snipe and black wheel marks all the way down the board. If you have a knot in even the softest of woods, it will scar the blade. Like anyone, I hate sanding more than anything. Those blade scars offer a great opportunity to do the thing I hate most. As an important consideration, this thing weighs over 92 lbs. If you have limited space and want to store it, hope you have a strong back.Overall, it's better than most planers I've used and the 4 post system is far more accurate. This would be a great planer for those who have large shops and don't need to move it and also don't mind adding sanding time to remove the lines from the low quality blades they chose.

I use this planer daily for my cutting board business. Within about 2 weeks I started to experience some belt squeaking noise. Thought it might have gotten some sawdust in it or it wasn't aligned properly from the factory. I inspected it and didn't see either issue. I used the old fashion bar soap trick that you would use on a cars serpentine belt and now several weeks later its been quiet. Also the rollers that guide the wood through need to be cleaned regularly or you will get slippage when they get dirty. Also waxing the planer surface really helps with reducing snipe and smooth cutting. Other then those minor issues this is a fantastic planer. It gets you down to about 120 grit smoothness. The stock blades last surprisingly long considering I run mostly hardwood and use it daily. Glad I spent the extra money vs a cheap 2 blade planer.

Little known fact: DW735X includes a chip blower driven by the same 15 amp motor that drives the cutter head. You don't need a shop vac or other vacuum motor to collect chips and dust. What a great deal: a planer and a dust collector on the same 15 amp circuit !! I used 4 inch 26 gauge galvanized steel adjustable elbows and 4 snap lock pipe, 4 thumbscrew clamps, a 55 gallon steel barrel and a dust bag on the barrel outlet (almost nothing makes it out of the barrel to the dust bag) to collect chips and dust. Added bonus: one of the planer motor screws and a short piece of wire with a ring terminal can be used to static ground the dust collection system. Not getting periodic high voltage static shocks: priceless !!Other stuff: Dewalt should provide a factory DRO option. Yeah, it is loud. Wear ear protection.

I've only ran about 200 board feet of cedar from our sawmill so far but the end result has been extremely satisfying. Planer was easy to set up out of the box (45mn) and comes with the tool needed. Had to attach the crank handle, chip shoot, and adjust a feed table before running some test boards. Easily handled 10' long pieces with no snipe and the cuts were so smooth that we didn't feel the need for sanding afterwards. So far a great purchase.
