Nice Badge Holder, but the retractable key/badge holder is a bit weak. Unable to hold a badge and a RSA token without the thread reel unwinding unintentionally.

Unlike my old one, which finally stopped retracting after 15 years, this one is inferior. I have to be very careful what I attach it to because it easily slides off. If you're going to only use it down, such as on a pocket, it's just OK. If you use it sideways or up, it will fall off.

Dropped it once and the thing shattered and is now unusable. I really liked the functionality but the lack of durability ruined it for me.

Silver ring broke off after a few weeks. Kinda bulky for the office environment I work in. Not very sturdy.

Liked it... lasted less than 60 days though until it broke. Design was ok but for the price this should have been able to be handed down to my kids. Ok maybe not but still I went with a more expensive one for the carabiner and belt clip combination but sadly didn't get what I paid for since the spring broke or something today. Now it's junk. :(

Initial quality was excellent. I started using this in February and it's about 1/2 way through November and the cable is heavily frayed at the end and will probably break anyday, so I have to replace it.The only thing I have on this is my badge, so there's very little weight and I probably pull it out 3-4 times a day Mon - Fri. So with what would qualify as very light use this badge made it through about 3/4 of a year.

Worked well while it lasted, but it broke within 6 months of normal usage (not rough by any means). The cord stopped retracting today =(I expect these things to last at least a year.

I attached my work bathroom key to this. This will come off your belt when you pull on it. I also cannot hold to many items; it will not retract back if too heavy. It should hold a badge alright. but again it will slip off your belt when pulled. So use the caribiner if you're going to be pulling it alot.

Used for roughly a month and then the cord became hopelessly tangled around the reel spindle. Fatal design flaw in an otherwise solidly-constructed item.

The only reason I bought this particular badge holder was because I like to clip it on my pants pocketinstead of using carbiner to clip it a belt loop. Well, first time I used it I went to slide the clip ontomy pocket and the clip broke off and fell in the snow and I lost it! Live and learn, you get what you pay for.

I bought 2 of these - 1 as a back up in case the first one breaks and thankfully so. The first ones recoiling mechanism broke after 2 days in the office. Counting parking garage and building/elevator access, I calculated using it 24 times.I've been in the field since so I use an arm pouch/ID holder. When I get back to the office environment I'll switch back to the second one and see if I can get thru one week.

It's a bit heavy for hanging on a shirt pocket and the string broke after 4-5 months of relatively gentle use (it's not like I'm flossing with it...)

What a great idea! A carabiner AND belt clip on a retractable badge holder!But...The carabiner basically just clips onto the plastic. Mine kept coming unclipped, resulting in no badge holder on my beltloop or bag hok. Okay, superglue that pup.The belt clip was always a bit loose, wouldn't grab onto my pants, but I used it sometimes anyhow; not all pants have belt loops. And then it came off a few times also. You can't superglue the belt clip on. I tried. To get any real hold, the glue needs to go on the inside with the belt clip anchor... but that's where the retracting spindle is. Get glue there and the whole item is immobilized. So the two main reason you would buy this - the carabiner and the clip - both are not actually firmly affixed to the device. Which is, don't forget, the whole point of the device.

This item was useful for my badge for a while... until the clasp came off... like it didn't break.. it just slipped off and you could still re-attach it.. but it would still fall off eventually. So, I stuck with using the clip part of it. (Back splint)That was, until it decided to fall off when I was walking to the bus stop from work!I was without an ID for work for a few weeks, I didn't have the holder, badge or the little plastic thing that holds the card.. of course the managers kept forgetting to make me a new badge for a while, good thing I wrote down my numbers.. lol. But, if the clasp never fell off, this wouldn't have happened in the first place.. I'd still have the clasp too!!So, I give this a two stars because it just falls off.

I have a work ID that needs to be swiped at doors and needed something that would clip into my jeans pocket. The clip on this is too loose and my ID keeps falling off...

I had used this reel happily for less than 3 months, and then one day the cord broke off completely as I was walking around. Since I didn't hear my keys fall, I was then locked out of my office for days until a good samaritan found and returned them. I had 1 ID card and 3 keys on it - not what I would consider a very demanding load. I guess you get what you pay for, but having my keys is too important to risk losing them at any moment.

I use this every day. It holds two badges in plastic badge holders just fine. Still retracts strong. I would recommend buying this.Review update. The badge holder cord broke yesterday just after having it 6 months. I use it everyday of the work week. Not happy about this. I am glad that it broke when I had my badge in my hand so I didn't loose it. Drop from 5 stars to 2.

First shipment did not arrive. After complaint, they resend and received. Good customer service.Using the item, after about 5 pulls, it refuses to retract no matter what I do. Now it is like any non retractable id holder. Useless for what I bought it for.Throwing it away. I suppose you get what you pay for, it was cheap!!Stars given more for service than the product

The string broke after 4 months of daily use.The remainder of the clip is good quality. You could always buy a pack of them, and then just have a spare for when the string breaks.
