I learned the D'nealian method of manuscript in school, so when I noticed my preschooler being frustrated that l's looked like 1's in our writing program, I started teaching her the way I learned. When I came across this mat, I went ahead and purchased it. I like that the lines for practice are under the letter. It is sturdy, and my only complaint is it is portrait, not landscape. I understand why, it would just be a more useful placemat if landscape.
