I bought my boat new in 2008. Suzuki df140 on a 20ft Thunderjet OB/OS aluminum boat. Motor is a little lacking in power for this boat. After the first 6 months of owning the boat I bought this to try to get it to plane quicker. It was a big difference. No issues getting boat up on plane even when loaded down with ice and 4 people for tuna fishing offshore. One added benefit is the rear of the boat is less bouncy in ocean chop. It's hard to explain but its a notably smoother ride in the wind waves than it was before I put it on. I did loose 3mph on the top end as it does add more drag but I mostly ocean fish and very few days are you able to go WOT. I have been running this stabilizer since late 2008 and it is still secure although I should replace the rubber washers out of an abundance of caution. Easy no-drill installation and it has been very sturdy.

Actually works. Can tell the difference in planing out. Used the no drill option but the plate already had a hole in it so added an extra screw there to hold it in place. So far so good.

Installed this on my 90hp Evinrude yesterday using the no-drill method. Took the boat out for a test and noticed several improvements: Better handling at low speed (less zig-zagging), gets on plane faster with less stern dig, maintains plane at lower speed. In all situations the improvement was not huge, but was noticeable. I consider it worth the money. The no-drill installation seems to be holding up, but that was only after one test ride, so time will tell. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the installation bolts are just barely long enough to reach through the foil, cavitation plate and no-drill washers. Would it have killed the manufacturer to include bolts that are a quarter to half inch longer, or maybe include 4 extra bolts that are a little longer. Also, the lock nuts are supposed to be 7/16 but I tried several 7/16 wrenches and sockets, and all were just slightly too small to fit. I ended up using a 12mm socket - wasn't perfect, but was the closest fit I could find. For $100 you would think the manufacturer would pay a little more attention to detail. However, the product seems to be working well and I would purchase it again.Update: After several more trips and tests I've found that if you trim the motor all the way down before hitting the gas then it planes almost immediately with barely any dig. You just have to remember to level the trim back up after planing, otherwise there is a lot of drag (understandably).

Previous fun was slightly wider and shaped more like a whales fin, which provided more lift. This one works fine and was easy to install. We have about 30 hours of use on it now over multiple trips without issues.

Not sure how they work but I do notice a great bit of savings on gas usage. It also gives me a wider range of trim without cavitation.

It's ridiculous that they can't include four properly sized bolts. I have a Yamaha 115 HP so it's not like my cavitation plate is oddball sized. And the instructions are not good; thankfully, the exploded diagram tells you all you need to know for a proper install. So that's why I didn't give it five stars. Out on the water, I am pleased to report that it keeps my 18 footer almost on plane at slower (2-2500 rpm) speeds, which is great because the estuary I'm usually in is filled with sand bars and it's difficult to go more than 15 mph at low tide. Not sure if it reduces my top end, but again, I almost never go full throttle. Now, I have a good view all the time and a better ride. Well worth the price and a noticeable difference for the better.

I installed it without drilling on a 1997 Evinrude 115 HP. If the bolts were 1/4” longer installation would have been a breeze, otherwise holding it all together and in place, finding enough thread to get the nut attached, was really a major pain. I almost went to the hardware store for longer bolts. It's very sturdy and should bring nice results.
