Go no go gauges are very handy and we prefer them for many tasks especially for adjusting engine valves. It basically gives you a narrow window of acceptability. If the fost part gauge fits in but the next step in same gauge does not go then you are good.

Simple wire gauge for old school ignition systems. Far superior to the “ramp” type gauges. Not as good of steel as they used to be, typical concession to the Chinesium alloy so prevalent in our world today.
