A fun way to learn to read! These books are basic and sometimes a little silly which my son appreciated. They are a great way to begin the phonics process of reading and help new readers gain confidence as they can read a book for the first time. Each story is only a few pages long and perfect to keep new readers encouraged and motivated.

We are a homeschool family and I have tried so many things to help my son to read and nothing worked! I had heard about these books for awhile but didnt see what was so special about them so I just skipped them. Big mistake! I wish I would have gotten them right away! It took one book and my son suddenly started reading! They seemed to just give him the confidence that he needed.

During our reading time, I had a hard time to get my 5yo son's attention on the words of books. Most of the time he only liked to focus on the colorful pictures and scanned quickly at the word lines. So it's difficult to teach him to read and remember even the simple words. I gave Bob books a try and so glad that I picked them, since now the little boy has really focused on the words and learned them quickly, yay! The simple drawing of the books are intentional to withdraw the little ones' attention from the animated pictures, that's the main point. The only thing need to be improved is the connection between the words and the pictures. Sometimes my son can guess them easily based on the pictures like dog, cat, bird, bug without really learning the words. But it's helpful and effective to learn sigh words. I would strongly recommend these books for the very beginning reader to build up their confidence in reading.

Our pre-k son (5) started showing interest in reading and these books were great. The school let us borrow their and then we purchased our own!

My children started with Bob Books, on the advice of a local librarian, when they were preschool age. Now they are reading on an 8th grade level (in 3rd grade) and 3rd grade level (in 1st grade). Whatever you do, never use reading logs or make reading into a chore. Let them read whatever they want as long as it's paper, not a screen.

Great books for the price. My granddaughter is in pre-school and these are what they use. I bought a few sets for the house so we can practice in the summer so she'll be ready for Kindergarten. My granddaughter thinks she is doing great reading by herself.

These. Are. The. Best. We started my 5yo w the level 1 reading books and were getting nowhere than my friend recommended these. After a week she read one of the books to her whole junior k class! She reads these in bed by herself and my kid was never a reader! She sees success w these and it motivates her. I am so so so happy w them. Upset I spent so much money on those level one books before I knew about these.

We just received this book yesterday for my son who just turned 4. With a little help from mommy and daddy reading book 1, he read the book all by himself on the sencond try. We were shocked (in a good way). We went on to book 2, a little more effort and help was needed but he went thru that book as well. The books are very simple and cute. The progression with each book is very well thought out and appropriate for a first time reader. We are very hopefully getting thru all of the books.
