I use Bourns variable resistors exclusively in my guitar repairs.I've been using them for decades going back to my days in the military where I used a lot of Bourns mil-spec pots.

I like these because they are low resistance turning knobs. Makes it easier for me to do volume swells with my little finger. If you like more resistance to prevent accidental turning then you might prefer CTS pots.

good pots measuring around 270k but have limited taper they kinda go from on to off much quicker. but are easy to solder and cheap, bournes also makes vipots so they are a good company

The pots came with two nuts and two washers per pot. Makes it easy to get the correct depth fit.

bourns are the best in my opinion. functionality of cts is abt the same, but the bourns just feel nicer and smoother to me. all of them, be it long or short shaft, 250 or 500k, and normal pot/push-pull...the bourns slightly edge cts for me. although nothing against cts. they are quality as well

The best pots I've found are made by Bourns and CTS (wider variety from CTS) .... For standard audio taper pots, the Bourns are usually a lot easier to turn with a minimum of resistance.

No more scratchy pots. I will add if you have a older Yamaha, you need the long thread pots. I have them in an old RBX Yamaha.
