Great value, much better than using District equipmemt.Only wish is a narrower over-knee cover piece. The ones on these are catcher-width, which can make for a very tight fit under the gray Dickies pants our district use for umps.

This is a great starter pack if your umpiring in either baseball or softball. Chest protector does the job as I've been hit a few times by erractic softballs. Everything goes on very well, but you do need to watch where you put the back straps on the chest protector as you could find yourself where the front clips are to attach to the front of the protector. Overall a great starter pack for beginning umpires and season veterans..

I was afraid that these would come across as cheap...not at all. All of the pieces work great if you're just getting into Umpiring and if you're doing little league. If you plan on doing High School or even 50/70 - Jr/Sr - I'd recommend a heavier chest protector. It works but not so much for fast pitches at the higher level. Love the counter and brush. Wish it came with a second ball bag.

I got tired of using the equipment provided by the league given I do a lot of games. In fact, I'd say the equipment given by our league was pretty high quality stuff and better than this but like I said, I just wanted my own after a while. In terms of fit, I'm 5'7.5 and weigh about 170. It's a bit long for my height but that didn't prove to be a problem. I think ideally it would fit someone 5'10. I used the protection only as the ancillary equipment was pretty cheap. The chest and leg protector fit well and saved me time and again for games involving 10-11 yos. For the 12 year old level games, I did take a couple of balls that I felt a bit more but nothing that left a mark. I don't think I'd recommend this for older kids. At the end of the day, it worked as a I expected and I'm happy with the purchase given the relatively affordable price. If I could more accurately rate this, I'd give it 4.5 stars.
