It's good and maybe it's thicker than mats advertised as 1/2-inch, but 5/8-inch is exaggerating a little. I even tried to measure it across a land instead of a groove and it's still less than 5/834;. I got it for a bedroll. It's pretty soft but even with nothing on top of it, it does cushion your bones on a hard surface. It weighs less than a firmer mat would and that's not nothing.

This was thicker than I wanted for a yoga mat but I ended up using it for my senior dog. He won't lie on dog beds but he will lie on this and it gives good cushioning for his arthritic hips.

This mat is nice and cushy. I enjoy exercising on it, and others like to lie on it. It could clean better, as over time is dents in a little, as I clean. But it's not any worse than any other mat I've tried. Price is not too bad for the value.

Purchased for an outdoor boot camp-style workout. The extra thick mat helped a lot when working out on the pavement. However when I use this mat indoors on a tile floor, it slips and slides all over the place.

Nice cushy, thick mat. Very slippery when wet. Don't use it while wet from swimming or sweat. You can slip from feet to rear end in the blink of an eye if there's moisture.

I like this mat, but I think the device the manufacturer used to measure its thickness is a little off, because I don't measure the thickness at 3/4".
