If you use wrenches for a living you know that you need many different kinds to fit many different situations. The primary feature of these new SK wrenches is the ratcheting mechanism. When you have very little room to turn a wrench back and forth these shine. However, the design of the wrench also presents some difficulties. For one, they are very thick -- unusually thick. I suspect this is in order to accommodate the fine ratcheting mechanism. Yes, a thick wrench is going to be a stronger wrench than a thin one, but the thickness of these prohibits their use in some small spaces. Besides, a high quality steel wrench does not need to be so thick. Others have pointed out that the box end fits snugly over bolts and nuts so there's no slop. This is good and this is bad. If you are working with a shiny new bolt or nut, that's fine. But if you are working with a bolt or nut that is caked with dirt, or that has been damaged, or is corroded on the outside, the box ends of these wrenches won't fit and you're stuck using the open end, which means that nifty ratcheting system is useless in this case. The third limitation is the unexplainable small selection of SAE sizes. I'm an aircraft mechanic and we don't use metric tools. I feel the need to ask, "What were they thinking?" This is SK's top-of-the-line wrench and they only make 7 sizes in SAE? I like the wrenches and I look for opportunities to use them, but they should be better. I could not possibly have them as my only set of wrenches, but they fill a very small niche nicely.

Very nice quality and the flank drive open end works well for the brass air fittings I mainly bought them for. However I do wish there were more sizes available. The ratcheting is smooth and tight and they seem pretty durable so far under regular industrial use.
