It's not down filled, but it is just what I needed. My 6'1" 250 frame fit the XXL just fine. "Washed for the vintage look" I don't need but whatever, it looks good to me. The AF had it right, this is the perfect parka.

OK...first the Pros:
I really like the fabric, its a nice thick cotton, and I think its going to wear well. The buttons are sewed on tight, the sleeve pocket is big enough for a small notebook, and the pen pockets actually hold modern pen/pencils.
Its got a nice heavyweight brass zipper
I ordered the XL and its appropriate for its size. Parkas are designed to be layered under, particularly those modeled on the military N3-B this one is no exception. My normal coat size is a Large, and ordering an XL allows me to layer long johns, sweaters/polar fleece and a polar fleece vest. I know from prior experience that this coat with those layers will allow me to sleep in a snowdrift at -20F
I really like that the fake fur ruff is detachable. I made the mistake of washing one years ago and it was never the same again.
Cons:
I think the pockets are a little small. The interior pocket is made to fit the old flip phone...my iPhone 8 with a Otterbox Defender case doesn't fit. Nor can I carry a checkbook or anything else of any reasonable size. I'm using that pocket for my travel size Kleenex. The slash pocket/hand pockets will barely fit a pair of gloves, and I can't get a stocking cap in there with the gloves without fear of it falling out. The cargo pockets (both sides) have more space, but I think I got spoiled with my "real" N3B from the 80s.
Because they made this coat with a detachable hood (as well as the detachable ruff...why?) the zipper does not go into snorkel mode. One of the biggest selling points of the old N3B was the ability to block the wind from the face...and this coat can't do it. I may sew the hood on permanently, and replace the zipper with a longer one. The material is there for the alteration. Another addition that would be welcome is a hood adjustment strap. All it does is stop the top of the hood from falling down past the chin when not in snorkel mode. Other reviewers complain that the hood is "too big" Its not too big. Its just been designed with enough material to go into a snorkel configuration...

I love this parka, but it does come large! I normally wear XL and most XL clothes fit perfectly on me, but an XL in this is huge! The arms are pretty puffy and I almost think I could get away with a medium, definitely a large. Good quality Parka though and it's pretty warm! Not waterproof.
