I purchased mine years ago.. I NEVER thought of bringing 'her' too my grandmother who had dementia or even my father-in-law. This is a FANTASTIC IDEA. It is very real like I actually purchased it for my own cats but they rather play w/a paper bag. I just wanted 2 write this is a great idea! Again I had mine for many years so they do last !!!!

I asked my son to buy it for me for mother's day. It's the size of a real cat. But it definitely looks like a toy stuffed animal. It can see that twenty feet away. The fur feels very, very fake and not soft like a real cat's. It sticks together. And the paws are unnaturally pink, like a toy cat. The cat makes a mechanical sound. It sounds like a machine. It's cute, but looks and feels like a stuffed animal.

My 90 year old grandma has had this a few months and raves about it. The first one didn't purr, so I had to return it. The second works well and is very cute and fun. I knocked off a star because of quality. I keep waiting for the current one to break.

I loved hearing it purr...the meow not so much as it got annoying. But you can mute the meow without muting the purr. I do wish it had an automatic power down mode because I can certainly see people with dementia forgetting and the batteries runnng down. It does shed. I had white fur buts all over my black pants. My dad didn’t want to keep it as he was afraid of what others would think. I guess men are not as secure as women when it comes to having this. Have to return and returns are not free even with Prime.

I purchased this from Hasbro for myself. I do not have dementia, but am housebound and am no longer able to care for a cat. There are things that could stand improvement: the motor is quite loud, the lining of the fur shows through when she turns on her back, and the tail looks oddly attached to the right leg, rather than between the two back legs. Movements are a bit jerky. That said, I find it fun (I collect stuffed animals) and also relaxing to pet until she purrs and meows. If the company improves on this toy, I'd most probably get another. I am satisfied, and think it a good purchase for an elderly person who cannot have a pet, as long as it is handled gently.

This made my elderly parents smile. Looks real at a glance.

I purchased this for my mom because she lives in a nursing home and thought she might like the ability to pet and love a cat. When she opened it she loved it. It was the first time I had seen her give a real smile in a long time. I also loved it myself. These cats are actually very realistic looking. The size is great and they feel pretty good to the touch. The way it lays is also very realistic. This was a good purchase for what it was purchased for. It would not be a toy for a child but I would like it laying on my bed as a decorative touch and it is really soothing to stroke the fur and listen to the purr. If I had to change anything it would be the sound of the MEOW. I would prefer the meow be an actual cat recording and it doesn't truly sound like it is. Its not a bad sound but not totally real. The purring is actually very good and I have had a big cat that sounded very much that way. All in all, I am pleased with it and think mom and I will enjoy it for a long time.
