This shelf looks beautiful in our living room and we've received a ton of compliments on it being so much more interesting then a regular shelf. Only problem was after being in the same place for a few years I tried to move it and the top where it leans against the wall pulled off a strip of paint, easy fix is just to place a barrier between the two which I will do when we repaint... for now I just put it back in the exact same place so nobody can tell the paint is missing. =)

Easy to put together, even for a single lady. Fits great in my bedroom! Would have given five stars but holes didn't line up for the bottom support piece.

very well made and sturdy, the dowel holes were overdrilled (too deep) and I would have preferred better quality dowels. It is currently holding a good amount of A/V equipment and books with no worries about it holding it all.Nice finish highly recommended product.

This bookcase is just as good as some pricier ones.I searched weeks for ladder bookcases . Very happy with my choice. The box was heavy and long so ladies will need help to lift or carry.Came packaged really well. Each piece was wrapped separately with all the correct hardware.Once all the pieces are unpacked, (a little time consuming) it will take about 30 to 40 minutes to assemble.A small spot on one of the shelves was missing the finish but a touch of black marker did the trick and is not noticeable. Not flimsy. Nice and sturdy. I don't know what the weight limit is but I put six large text books on one shelf and it's holding up just fine.I placed these bookcases against a wall with a 55 inch TV in between. They look sleek and stylish.Good quality for the price.

The product is inexpensive because its not made out of hardwood instead it's particle board with a fake wood veneer cover. Its still a nice looking bookshelf, and can hold a lot of books (at least 100), and with a variety of self sizes you can sort out your big books from your small. Putting it together to less than an hour, as long as you follow the short construction manual (2 pages). All in all I think it is a good product and the reason I gave it a 4 star review is only because it's not "real" hardwood, and I knew it wouldn't be when I ordered it but I think for the price it's great.

I think my title says it all. The piece itself is very nice. Sturdy like others have said, which is why I purchased it. But somewhat confusing to put together. I was never able to get the bolts completely secured, but it seems fine. Overall I'm glad that I bought it.

Let me start by saying I thoroughly love the look of this product. It looks great leaning against my wall and I am happy I purchased this, I think?! I am a little conflicted with my loving the look to the overall quality of the product. The unit was super easy to put together. That is even though the directions were somewhat too simple. It took a little guess work, and I guess common sense to ensure that mutliple identical looking pieces were in the right spot. Once you figure that out its a joy to put together. After placing it on the wall, I noticed the shelves were not level, so I attempted to gently slide this unit up to achieve the desired level shelves. Well the moment I moved this thing I saw a black mark on my wall. Now, to clarify I did not slide this thing hard by no shape form or fashion. It wasn't leaning for more than two minutes when I decided to move, but low and behold it left a black mark on my wall. After moving to the right angle noticed that there is no way to make the shelves 100% level, which isn't too bad because they are probably about 80 to 85 degrees, so nothing is going to slide or move. I placed all my figurines and pictures on this unit and I love the look. I am just slightly upset about the black mark and the fact the shelves aren't completely level.

I ordered two shelves. One arrived, and the other had been returned by UPS without delivery - I am assuming the packaging was too damaged. The boxes were not well sealed along the side edge, however, they were packaged well so they were not damaged. I love the look of the shelves. The sides are all one piece - not two, which I like. The directions were confusing to me to understand what was top and bottom. I was able to easily put them together by myself, however, when I put together the first one, I had the shelves upside down. It was easy enough to change, but it did take me a while. I just finished an MBA program, and the bottom shelves easily hold those heavy text books. I love these bookshelves for the space I had. They were reasonably priced, fairly easy to put together (once you were able to tell the difference in top and bottom) and were easily put together by one person. I like the height. It makes it nice to be able to put many books with some decorative touch.

These are nice modern looking good shelves. I put them together in no time. There were a few chips/dents in the paint/wood but nothing crazy. In comparison to the $300 crate and barrel shelves, these are pretty nice for the $ spent.

I bought this shelf for my daughter's ever growing stack of books. It was easy to put together - albeit a tad awkward because of the height of the unit, be prepared to kneel for a while. What I love about it is that it's so neat against the wall. It takes up far less space the the unit it replaced, which held half the amount of books! Definitely a good buy.

This only took about a half hour to assemble with one person. Although the shelves are secure, they seem to kind of tilt a little. The piece is not as sturdy as I thought it would be but I will just put lighter items on the shelves. It looks nice!

This piece of furniture was a nice addition to our family room and allowed us plenty of space to display our many photos. It arrived promptly and was relatively easy to assemble. The only complaint was that one of the shelves was slightly dinged, but not so much that we felt we needed to return it.

These shelves are lovely, spacious, and easy to assemble, even with only one person. The only reason I am giving them four stars instead of five is a design/cost-cutting issue. Each shelf is held to each side post by a long screw, which does most of the fastening, and two dowels which run between the posts and the shelves on either side of the screw, for stability and weight bearing. The dowels are flimsy pressboard -- I broke two of them during the assembly process, just moving the shelving to attach the other side. Would it really have been too expensive or difficult to make them of the same beautiful wood that the shelving is made of, or better yet, metal? There isn't even a measurement given on the instructions to let me know what size dowel they are, so that I can procure metal ones to replace them. Other than this issue, I'm very happy with the look of the shelves, and I'm sure my books are similarly happy to be freed of their moving boxes.

This bookshelf was well worth the money compared to other bookshelves. I looked in stores, catalogs and the internet. most other black ones where $400-1000. assembly was easy for me. it wasn't perfect but for the money it was really good and the free shipping was even better.

This is a nice shelf for the price. Crate and Barrel charges an arm and a leg for similar shelving, so this is a decent alternative. At Home Mart's customer service is also very good -when my shelf arrived broken they took care of it immediately, shipping out replacement pieces at no cost to me.
