Very pleased with this purchase. Item was as described. Having a good deal of experience buying furniture online I can say that this is of good quality for the price. Assembly was easy requiring minimal manual dexterity and well explained in the enclosed instructions. I cannot attest as to the strength and limitations of the shelves as I purchased this exclusively to display my plastic models. However, because of the overall structure and materials used to its manufacture I am confident that that it would be more than adequate for books. The fact that it is also collapsible makes this a multi-purpose purchase. Wow, say that 3 times real fast. Anyway, I highly recommend this item.

Great looking, assembly wasn't too bad, looks great in my living room. Not very heavy, either, so you can do it all yourself.

We needed a shelf that could display a few light-weight dolls. It's been just fine for that purpose. The first one we ordered was damaged in shipment. We re-ordered the same one and it was fine. I don't know how well it would do as a bookshelf as it could get top-heavy and would need to be mounted to a wall and maybe have the shelves reinforced. It was perfect for the wall niche where we needed something exactly of that size and type. Just fine for light-duty.

This shelf was surprisingly easy to put together (did not have the issues many others reported to have). It is very compact and looks good. Not the most rugged construction but great for the price.

First off I loved my skinny shelves so much that I immediately ordered another one. It already comes half assembled for you. All you have to so is screw in the top shelf and also the other bracket things that lock hold each shelf in place. One side is already done so no need to break out a level or anything. It's a great color and it is fairly light weight. I have other Winsome products, I'm never disappointed with them.

After opening the box the instructions were easy to understand. I was putting stuff on the shelves within fifteen minutes. I wished the color was darker or it came in a oak finish.

I chose this book shelf for a person in a retirement hospital, and they are very satisfied with the case.

I paid about $50 with free prime shipping for this. I did not expect the best quality material, but it is surprisingly decent.. but it works in my living room (paired it with the ladder bookcase), and its great for small nick-hacks, or DVDs, books, games, etc. It isn't that tall, see the description. It is 51, I believe. It was pretty easy to put together. Half to it comes together and if you replicate what is already together, then you will be all set. It does include instructions, but they can be somewhat confusing. It works for me, and I would even consider buying another one to add to the other side of the room.

We bought 2 of these for my daughters apartment. They went together very quickly and if we ever have to move her, they will be very easy to transport because they fold. I don't think they can hold very much weight, but we didn't expect them to do so.

I wanted some shelving to display pictures. This 4 tier shelf is light weight and portable to carry from place to place. It would be nice if I could find some small spot lights to high light my pictures on each shelf.

This was a great solution to limited room and a style need to match our existing cabinetry in the office! Easy to assemble and holds tall books and notebooks used in my work... I have purchased another for a different area of the house in another wood color.

In the end, I like it. It's simple and has a nice, beach house look to it. The assembly, however, was supposed to be simple. The problem with my unit was that the drilled holes were about a 1/4 inch off, making for a frustrating re-drill job. Had the holes been drilled correctly, this would have been a breeze to setup! Still worth the purchase? In the end, I'd say so.

in color and weight. my husband said it best when he said the legs look spindly. The folding part is a bit misleading because to fold them down to store them t=you have to unscrew some hardware which seems to defeat the purpose. But I'm not too worried because I bought then because they are tall & thing, perfect for next to my desk. The inside shelf spaces are 12 1/4 x 12 x 1/4 & 10 1/2 deep.

This is the second Winsome Wood Folding 4-Tier Shelf, Natural I have purchased. It is practical and space saving. I wish they still sold them in stores.

If you need a bookshelf that's not too wide but still holds plenty of books, this is what you need. Easy to assemble. My teenage son built it in about an hour or so. You won't be disappointed.

This product works nicely for a small space, but it was very mangled the first time we received it and still had a crack in it the second time (we sent the first one back and requested a new one). Overall it is a decent product for the money.

NOTE (9/16/2012): I just received four Winsome natural folding bookcases of the three-tier version, and they have taken a nosedive in quality (now manufactured in Vietnam, not Malaysia, and not made of beechwood any more). If this now applies to the four-tier version of the shelf, this product is no longer of any quality whatsoever!...This bookcase is perfect for snug areas, and it's very stable given its dimensions (just over a foot wide x 1 foot deep), though acrobatic children could be a problem for it. The downside to the slim dimensions is that, unlike the stackable 3-tier shelves, these are not screw/groove-prepped for stacking multiple units and do not contain that hardware found in the 3-tiers, although the legs (sides) are properly grooved underneath and above to allow stacking. The height of each shelf will make stacking under a standard 8' ceiling impossible. The important downside to the narrow width is these bookcases will not fold up perfectly after they're put together. Unlike the wider 3-tier shelves, the two legs (sides) obviously have to fold over each other, so once the shelf support pegs are installed in both sides, the legs can no longer close flush to the back of the case. This can be problematic for moving, since you either risk scratching/bending from an imperfect fold, or must unscrew the four shelf support pegs from the right leg. If frequent moving will not be done, this drawback will be a non-issue.I have found that the left four pre-installed (screwed) shelf support pegs consistently do not match the pilot holes for the shelf support peg screws on the right side, resulting in shelf support pegs that have a 1/4" discrepancy between left and right sides. On removing the pre-installed shelf support pegs, I discovered there were holes piloted in the correct spot (hidden by the shelf support pegs) that were not used by the factory (1/4" higher than the actual screws were drilled). It seems the machining was off in this process, and as long as the left leg shelf support pegs are re-installed (unscrewed and rescrewed) into the correct pilot holes that are originally hidden, the shelves will balance on either side. All in all, this is an inventive design that suits its purpose very well (the top shelf is perfect height for placement of a table lamp), and given this is a fine looking tropical hardwood bookcase that will hold as heavy a row of books as you can fit on each shelf, there is absolutely no better shelf for the money these cost.
